If you've ever dreamed of getting up close to the majestic glacial ice and feeling its immensity firsthand, this is the adventure you've been waiting for.
The Blue Safari is designed for those who, in addition to sailing past the Perito Moreno Glacier, dream of getting up close to the glacial ice!
The excursion begins in El Calafate when the bus departs for Los Glaciares National Park. Once at Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, just 7 km from the walkways, we'll board a boat to cross Lake Rico and, after a 20-minute sail, disembark on the opposite shore.
We'll then walk for 30 minutes, keeping an eye on the glacier's south face in case we're surprised by a thunderous calving event. Once beside the ice, it will be time for an unforgettable experience… We'll be able to fully appreciate its intense and varied blues and whites, and its whimsical shapes.
We'll have plenty of time to take photos, and then we'll return to the boarding point, always accompanied by an experienced guide. The total hike is approximately an hour and a half over natural terrain of sand and stones, with some slopes and stairs. The 1.5-kilometer route follows the lake shore and winds through a lush forest with views of the glacier.
Finally, we'll board the boat to appreciate the entire southern face of the glacier from the water, just a few meters away, allowing us to see every detail of the marbled ice wall.
Once at the port, if you have booked the transfer service, we'll take the bus to the walkways, where we'll have two hours to enjoy the incredible panoramic view. If you've arranged your own transportation, you can freely choose how much time to spend on the walkways. You can also use this time to eat the packed lunch you should bring from El Calafate.
We'll arrive back in El Calafate after traversing the Patagonian steppe, our souls filled with the natural energy of this unique glacier. We look forward to hosting you!
The Blue Safari takes place in a natural environment, so weather conditions and the characteristics of the glacier and its surroundings change daily. However, the excursion will not be canceled as long as safety conditions permit. We hope to see you there!
