Visit the Itaimbezinho Canyon in Aparados da Serra and the Fortaleza Canyon in Serra Geral, both in Cambará do Sul.
If you like nature tourism, these two places are natural gifts that surprise visitors with their biomes, hydrography, vegetation, fauna, geological formations and unique reliefs.
Their canyons and trails offer the best experiences. Together, the parks cover more than 30,000 hectares and are spread across the states of Rio Grande do Sul (the upper part of the plateau) and Santa Catarina.
ITAIMBEZINHO
Location: Aparados da Serra National Park. Access in Cambará do Sul/RS (upper edges of the Itaimbezinho Canyon). Distance from the center: 18 km on a dirt road.
Length: 5.8 km / Width: 2 km / Depth: 600m to 750m.
Attractions: Vértice Trail (estimated time to walk the trail: 1h30) and Cotovelo Trail (estimated time to walk the trail: 3 hours). Accompaniment by a driver is suggested but not compulsory. There is no minimum age for these trails.
Support structure: ticket offices, parking, convenience stores, toilets, signage, first aid station, security guards, firefighters, guest monitors.
FORTALEZA
Location: Serra Geral National Park. Access in Cambará do Sul/RS. Distance from the center: 23 km (part on a dirt road).
Length: 7.5 km / Depth: Up to 800m.
Attractions: Pedra do Segredo Trail (estimated time to walk the trail: 1 hour), Mirante Trail (estimated time to walk the trail: 1 hour) and South Edge Trail (estimated time to walk the trail: 3 hours).
Accompaniment by a driver is suggested but not compulsory. There is no minimum age for the trails.
Support structure: ticket offices, parking, convenience stores, restrooms, signage, first aid station, security guards, firefighters, guest monitors.
Opening days:
Itaimbezinho - Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays, except on public holidays or the day before).
Fortaleza - Wednesday to Monday (closed on Tuesdays, except on public holidays or the day before).
- If there are queues at the advance purchase entrance, this voucher does not guarantee you priority access over other visitors.
- Tickets must be purchased for the day they are to be used.
- We recommend that you wear footwear suitable for hiking and appropriate clothing for the activity, as well as water, a cap, sunscreen, insect repellent, a raincoat and warm clothing (the temperature may vary throughout the day). You can also bring light snacks such as sandwiches, fruit and cereal bars. We have convenience stores in the centers.
- It is important to dispose of waste properly. Bring bags to store your waste in until you find garbage garbage cans.
- There is no cell phone or internet signal available in the area around the parks.
- Before buying your ticket, check the full rules for using the National Parks.
- Pets are not allowed in the parks.
- It is possible to visit the two upper visitation areas (Itaimbezinho and Fortaleza), which are accessed via Cambará do Sul/RS, with the same ticket, as long as you visit on the same day. If you want to visit on different days, you will need to buy another day's ticket.
- Please note that, in accordance with current legislation, proof of vaccination is mandatory for access.
- Attractions may be altered or canceled due to force majeure factors preventing the activity.
