This archaeological site, located in northern Peru, is home to a fascinating system of canals carved into the rock, which date back over a thousand years. The tour will take you through these intricate water channels, often referred to as the "Aqueducts of Cumbemayo." Learn about the engineering skills of the pre-Inca cultures that created this impressive network. With the breathtaking natural beauty surrounding you, you'll feel like you've traveled back in time.
We leave Cajamarca and begin our tour with a brief stop at the Bellavista Viewpoint from where we have a panoramic view of the city of Cajamarca and its countryside. From there we can also see the Santa Apolonia hill. Upon arriving in Cumbemayo we will visit the small Site Museum to have a general idea of the canal route and the details of its length. We will begin our walk stopping at the so-called Sanctuary, NEXT we continue towards the Tunnel of Wishes, Stone Forest, Stone of Sacrifice, Canal Bocatoma, Cumbemayo Canal, Rock Shelters and Ceremonial Altars. We will visit the impressive northern Andean landscape and the frailones volcanic rock forest, in Cumbemayo we will observe the sacrificial stone and also ceremonial altars in honor of water, in addition to touring the most important hydraulic work in Latin America âThe Cumbemayo canalâ and different whimsical rock formations.Return to Cajamarca
