We will take you off the beaten path to discover Paraisopolis Favela (slum). Enjoy the delicious traditional Brazilian Feijoada dish combined with drinks and live samba music in a lively atmosphere at the charming Bistro Mãos de Maria on the rooftop of the community association in the middle of the favela.
Before lunch and samba music, take a 3-hour guided tour and feel what life in a favela is really like. Tour through São Paulo's second largest favela experiencing a different culture and getting an unique insight into the vibrant spirit of its people, especially the hidden veritable artists who live there.
The itinerary is made on foot and includes along the way the Estevãos Stone House, the famous Gaudí of Paraisópolis, as well as the Berbela, who makes sculptures from motorcycle parts and any other material that could be disposed of in the trash.
The event happens every Saturday gathering local residents with visitors from various locations in the city and the world.

Worth doing
Happy with it, even if not everything was perfect. The guide knew a lot, though it was sometimes hard to hear over the street noise. We stayed on walking around Sao Paulo after dinner. The live musicians take the evening up a level. We would have liked to know beforehand how much walking was involved. Sort those details and it is a ten.

Pleasantly surprised. We used handling charges and parking fees during stops the whole time and it worked perfectly. Our guide was warm and took time to chat with everyone. Sao Paulo blew us away, we were not expecting that. Suitable for any age.

Lo mejor del viaje
Vale muchísimo más de lo que cuesta. El monitor de la comunidad local para acompañar a los turistas y guiarlos por la favela llegó justo cuando lo necesitábamos. El guía contaba historias que no están en ninguna guía de viaje. Volveríamos a contratarlo.

Buena opción para conocer Sao Paulo. Por el precio que pagamos, la verdad que rinde muchísimo. Que venga con tarifas de entrada y contribuciones para ayudar a la comunidad a apoyar sus proyectos hace toda la diferencia. Todo fluyó sin demoras ni esperas largas. Me quedé con las ganas de más tiempo en Sao Paulo. Una de las paradas estaba cerrada ese día y no lo avisaron. Nada grave, pero vale saberlo antes de reservar.

No podría haber salido mejor. Recomiendo hacerlo temprano, hay menos gente y mejor luz. Pagamos bastante menos que otras opciones y la experiencia fue igual de buena. Nos tocó un guía excelente, con mucha data y buen humor. Usamos guía turístico con licencia en español, portugués e inglés todo el tiempo y funcionó perfecto. De lo mejor que contratamos por internet.

We spent the evening talking about how good it had been. Great that local community monitor to escort tourists and guide throughout the favela was included. Our guide was the highlight: incredibly knowledgeable and happy to answer anything.
